Great British R&B Festival to celebrate 30 years

Colne Blues 2019

The Great British R&B Festival, Colne, Lancashire will be celebrating their 30th anniversary from 23rd – 25th August. Featuring headliner and European Blues Awards Best Musician winner 2017 Anthony Gomes, the twice award winning event also lists former finalists Paul Lamb, Sari Schorr and Danny Bryant on the bill. With 170 gigs on 22 stages this year’s festival promises to be the biggest yet. There will be a special ’30 years of Colne’ show in a brand new Town Hall venue by Bluesman Mike Francis and Friends and all programme and booking information can be found on the festival website;

Latest European Blues Awards presentations took place on 2nd weekend of June. Ribs en Blues Festival celebrated their 3rd win for Best Event/Festival in recent years and are now members of the Hall of Fame.

Hall of Fame is introduced with more changes on the way

As announced during European Blues Awards 2018 vote a special Hall of Fame category has been introduced for 3 times or more category winners since introduction of the digital voting system. The first recipients of this accolade are Paul Jones, Ryan McGarvey, Ian Siegal and Matt Andersen.

There will also be a European Blues events feature added during 2019 along with specific tour reports from performers from their travels across Europe. There will be a Special Edition of Blues Train on Radio Dublin City 103.2 FM from 23.00 CET/22.00 GMT/17.00 EST on Sunday 25th November 2018 hosted by finalist Charlie Hussey. European Blues Awards 2018 – Latest News Update


Voting in the 2018 European Blues Awards will begin at the end of October and last for 7 days. There will be 10 Categories this year that comprise of Best  Band, Best Guitarist, Best Musician (performance), Best Male Vocalist, Best Female Vocalist, Best Solo/Acoustic, Best Festival/Event, Best Album/Recorded Session, Best Radio Show and the Lifetime Contribution Award. All nominees must have played in Europe since November 2017 and no team members/associates or 3 times previous winners are eligible.

In the meantime we encourage followers of the weekly online Blues twitter forum #BluesHour to post their opinions especially with regard to the extremely broad choice option of Best Album/Recorded Session. There is also the option of emailing a suggestion but as this is not yet the voting process we request that a single message will do. At this time of year we also stress we cannot reply to all individual emails but everything sent will be read and taken into consideration by the team. We look forward to another fantastic vote and thank everyone for their continued and highly valued support.
